Your First Visit

Before your appointment

Your first visit gives us time to understand your symptoms, assess your movement and discuss a plan that suits your needs and goals.

How long does it take?

A first osteopathy appointment typically lasts around 50 minutes, including your consultation, assessment and treatment where appropriate.

What should I bring?

  • A list of your current medicines and relevant medical history.
  • Any relevant referral letters, scan reports or results you already have.
  • Details of previous treatment and any questions you would like to discuss.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move easily. Let us know about any concerns or preferences before the assessment. Each step will be explained, and you can ask questions or ask to pause at any time.

Find us: 263 Navan Road, Dublin 7, D07 RCK4.
Osteomedica is located within the Family Clinic GP building. Please use the shared main entrance.
Appointments: Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00–16:00.

What happens during your visit?

1. Consultation

We begin by discussing your symptoms, when they started, what makes them better or worse, and how they affect your daily life. We also review your medical history, medicines and previous treatment, and ask what you hope to achieve.

2. Assessment

Your assessment may include observing your posture, checking movement and carrying out relevant physical tests. We explain what we are doing and ask for your consent. Please tell us if anything feels uncomfortable; you can ask to pause or stop at any time.

3. Findings and your plan

We explain the assessment findings, discuss possible causes of your symptoms and agree on the next steps with you. If further medical assessment or investigations are appropriate, we will discuss referral to your GP or another healthcare professional.

4. Treatment and advice

Where appropriate and with your consent, treatment may begin during your first appointment. This may include hands-on techniques, advice on activity and individual exercises. We discuss how you respond, what to do afterwards and whether a follow-up appointment may be helpful.
